Burning Man 2008

Burning Man was amazing this year. The camp was filled with great, motivated, and fun people. I got to paint during out Tuesday party, which had the best music of the week. Obi-J, JD, and Dr. Toast all stepped up their game, and I did this painting during JD’s set.

Priceless: Evolution

I remember reading old Garfield books, cover to cover. It was amazing to me to see Jim Davis’s fat cat evolve over time. At first, he looked, well, more like a real cat. The buggy eyes were sort of there, but he looked furry, and slinky, if a little overfed. It was fun to read, and see how his style got cleaner, and more iconic over time.

I just did my fourth Ba’Root logo for False Profit’s Priceless and thought you might enjoy this series, showing the evolution of my favorite robot flower.

Priceless

The first try, fires raged across California. So, we’re going to try to throw this campout, one more time…

Featured Artist: Corel Painter Magazine

corel painter issue 20 coverCorel Painter Magazine is the monthly for digital fine artists and illustrators who use Corel Painter. Each month comes with tips, tricks, a CD with lots of extras, and features one digital artist. This month’s issue features my art, and an interview focusing on my Live Painting.

I have to say, I’m quite honored. I’ve read the magazine for a while, and am always impressed with the featured artists. It’s humbling to be sitting among them this month.

You can buy the magazine here.

“Tibet” Video Portrait featured on Giveback.net

My Tibet video was recently published on Giveback.net as part of Giveback’s “March to Tibet” campaign.

I met FreQ Nasty in New York at a Giveback event, and we talked about collaborating. I really dug his new track and we worked out some ideas for a painting. I created the video, and was reminded about how much fun it is to collaborate, but also how important it is to do. It helps keep my ideas fresh.

Learn more about Giveback.net.
Giveback is giving away a free download of an exclusive track from FreQ Nasty and Bassnectar (affectionately known as “FreQnectar”)

I’m seein’ robots

I’ve been busy this week working on some new game assets for Zynga Games. Check them out on myspace

That said, I need breaks to stay creative. Today’s break was for a personal project. More to come on that soon, but for now… ROBOTS!

Steampunk Robot

Since I’ve updated my portfolio, I can really play around here.

Here’s a piece I did using Painter’s image hose, using train parts I found on Google.
